REVIVE have supported a range of important research programmes in RICU. In the last year, 2 research projects looking at new treatments for critically ill patients with severe respiratory failure. One of these study investigated a drug called simvastatin. This study has successfully completed recruitment of 540 patients and will be the largest clinical trial of a drug treatment for undertaken to date in Europe. The other was a pilot study investigating a new treatment with reparative effects in the lung. This research will inform the development of new treatments for patients with severe respiratory failure. These results will be published later this year.

H & J Martin staff raised the money through coffee mornings, dress down days, sweets for charity boxes, the Belfast Marathon and various raffles.

On Sunday 4th May 2014 Owen Reel and Mickey Treanor with support from family, friends and the general public created a chain of hands up to the summit of Slieve Gullion mountain.

This event was organised to raise money for four particularly worthy charitable causes close to home……
Newry and Mourne Diabetic Group, Southern Area Hospice, Musgrave Orthopedic Unit and REVIVE, the charity who support the Regional Intensive Care Unit at the Royal Victoria Hospital.
On behalf of all the patients, relatives and staff the team at Revive would like to thank everyone who has supported us last year and helped contribute £74,000 additional and essential funding to the Regional Intensive Care Unit.
